Paired Up Reading is a project which supports children with their reading on a weekly basis. A group of children from a Year 3 and 4 at Primary School are matched with a group of volunteers from a local supported living residence. Each week the children walk there and meet their volunteer partner. The children choose a book to take with them, and the volunteer will help them to read and understand their book. Midway through the session they will have a drink and snack together; an opportunity to chat about the week with one another.
Paired Up Reading happens in two local Primary Schools in Salford with teacher assessed improvement in reading ages and reduced isolation for older adults. If your school or residence would like to take part please get in touch.
